Outback Tiles … a journey to the centre of Australia.
Outback Tiles
Outback Tiles is a collection of small painted canvas works inspired by a journey through the Simpson Desert, Uluru, and the West MacDonnell Ranges in 2021. Each tile captures a distilled moment—colours, textures, and shifting forms drawn from the vastness of the Australian landscape, reimagined through an intuitive, abstract lens.
Designed to exist both individually and as a collective, the tiles can be arranged in multiple configurations, echoing the rhythm and repetition found in nature. Together, they form a visual language of place—earthy, bold, and quietly reflective of the outback’s expansive beauty.
Coloured Fabric Textiles
Coloured Fabric is an evolving series of vibrant textile works that explore the intersection of painting and stitch. Through a playful and intuitive process, each piece combines painted surfaces with beadwork, embroidery, weaving, and deliberate fabric distortion to create richly layered, tactile compositions.
Designed as long runs of fabric, these works extend beyond the wall, existing as materials in motion—ready to be transformed into costume or wearable art. The series celebrates colour, rhythm, and repetition, embracing imperfection and movement as essential elements of the making process. Each length becomes both an artwork in its own right and a starting point for future forms, where body, fabric, and expression meet.
